I hate filling out forms at the best of times but the one I was given today really concentrated my mind about all the "what if" scenarios we have been trying to address during the intensive training sessions in our land-locked HQ in Cyprus. In a few days time I will be stepping on board a boat in an attempt to sail into the world's largest open air prison - known as Gaza - to help break the vicious Israeli siege which has virtually destroyed the economy, health, education and welfare system there. I remember speaking to a friend of mine recently about his acrimonious divorce case. Suffering from mental exhaustion and in the depths of despair, he blamed his increasingly litigious and bitter wife who had been unceremoniously dumped for a younger woman. “It’s got nothing to do with the money, you know. It’s all about revenge, justice and pride,” I advised. And that pretty much sums up my case for unfair dismissal with Aljazeera English which has been dragged through every court in the land of Qatar. I wonder how many of you know that the theme under consideration for Israel's 60th Independence Day is children? It is hard to imagine isn't it? It is now two weeks since that turbulent priest, the Archbishop of Canterbury, dared to say there could be some room for sharia’h law in today’s Britain.
I don’t think he could have foreseen the anti-Muslim backlash which followed – driven by groups with different agendas and motives. Comments (10) | Quote this article on your site | Print | E-mail |

I’m not sure if someone has given every village idiot my email or telephone number but it seems as though I’ve been inundated by fools who know nothing about Islam but think they do; those who should know better and don’t and various forms of pond life who attack Muslims with their every breath. The West adored Benazir Bhutto. She, spoke fluent English, was educated at Harvard and Oxford and she was not an Islamic fundamentalist. There were no frenzied, flag-burning demonstrations where the main chant was: ‘death to America’ at any of her rallies. The territory has been described as one of the most desolate places in the world. But it is also one of the most hotly disputed pieces of land on the planet as well, and has been the subject of a bitter battle for self determination and independence for decades. Americans under political occupation it seems they also have also seized
occupation of the legal system in neighbouring Egypt. Comments (5) | Quote this article on your site | Print | E-mail |
